What’s in the Kadhai?

RRO, from R. R. Oomerbhoy, makes groundnut, mustard and sesame oils for everyday Indian kitchens.

The range is built for flavour and versatility — at home in a weeknight dal or a cheesy late-night snack. RRO wanted a film that made that everyday role feel personal.

[02] The big thought

Home isn’t always a place.

Home isn’t always a place.

Sometimes it’s an aroma, a meal that brings back a memory, or a ritual that makes a new room feel like yours. you can move away from home and still bring its taste with you.

“We kept the title in hindi because that’s how the feeling actually sounds. nobody calls their mum asking for ‘familiar flavours’ — they ask for the taste of ghar.”

The person behind the plate

This was never going to be a film about food alone. we built it around a young working woman living on her own in mumbai — her ambitions, her routine, the things she loves and the faith that grounds her.

Food is the thread through all of it, bringing something familiar into a life that’s still new.

Two Speeds

Mumbai sets her pace. we shot its streets, local train stations, buses and street food stalls to catch a city that rarely slows down. her own space runs at a different speed — warmer, quieter, the place for familiar flavours, small rituals and being herself. the whole look of the film lives in that contrast.

Within

[still: her kitchen, warm light, dinner on]

“Mumbai had to be loud for home to feel quiet. every train we shot was there to make that kitchen feel warmer.”

A cameo, not a commercial

Four products, zero hard sells. cooking sequences, first bites, product photography and quiet moments of pooja let every product show up inside her day instead of interrupting it.

One shoot, many cuts

Script, shoot plan, visual direction, production and product photography — all under one roof. the footage became the brand film and a run of reels for RRO’s instagram, each carrying the same thought: some lean emotional, some lean food-first.

Independence means building a new life somewhere new. The flavours you grew up with come along.
